AI WhatsApp customer support in the UAE
The UAE is not one market speaking one language, and your WhatsApp number is exactly where that shows up. Replio answers your customers around the clock in whatever language they write in, on the working week the UAE actually keeps, and hands off to your team without anyone needing to read Arabic.
What makes UAE support different from the rest of the Gulf
Three things, and none of them are cosmetic. First, the working week. Since January 2022 the UAE has run a Saturday and Sunday weekend, while Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait still close on Friday and Saturday. If you serve customers on both sides of that line, there is no single "out of hours" any more: your Saturday is a Doha working day, and their Friday is your busiest morning. Replio keeps its own clock per account, defaulting to UTC+4 for a UAE business and overridable in Settings, so business-hours replies, scheduled sends and the daily message count all roll over at Gulf Standard Time rather than at UTC midnight.
Second, Friday itself. A large share of private-sector offices finish early on Friday for prayers, and government runs a shorter Friday still. That is a predictable few hours every week when nobody is watching the inbox and customers know it. It is the single easiest gap for an AI layer to cover, because the questions arriving in it are the ordinary ones: opening hours, price, do you deliver to my area, is this in stock.
Third, Ramadan. Trading hours shift for a month, evenings get busier than afternoons, and the answer to "are you open now" changes for thirty days. Because Replio answers from your knowledge base rather than from a hard-coded script, you change your hours in one place and every channel starts saying the new thing in the same minute, in every language.
Arabic and English on one number, plus the languages your customers actually use
Most UAE businesses field Arabic and English on the same WhatsApp number, often inside a single conversation. Plenty also field Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog and Malayalam, because that is who lives and works here. Replio reads the language of each incoming message and answers in that language, with no routing, no per-language flow and no primary language to pick.
One detail matters more in the UAE than almost anywhere: the language comes from the words, never from the phone number. A +971 number writing English gets English. That sounds obvious until you consider how many tools guess from a dial code, and how many Emirati and resident customers deliberately write in English. Country only breaks a tie on a very short, genuinely ambiguous message, and even then it never overrides what is in front of it. If a customer switches language halfway through, Replio follows them rather than correcting them.
The whole reply gets translated too, not just the greeting. Prices, opening hours, delivery areas and product names lifted from your knowledge base come back in the customer's language, because a warm Arabic hello above an English price list is worse than answering in English throughout.
Arabic that renders the way Arabic should on WhatsApp
This is the part nobody demonstrates. WhatsApp sets each line's direction from its first strong character, so an Arabic line that happens to start with an emoji, a digit or a Latin brand name lays itself out left to right and reads wrong. Worse, grouped digits inside right-to-left text run backwards: a number sent as +971 4 555 0123 arrives looking like 0123 555 4 971+, which is a phone number a customer will copy and misdial.
Replio marks every Arabic line right-to-left and wraps international and grouped numbers in a left-to-right isolate so they always read forwards, while leaving prices and times alone. It is a small piece of engineering that decides whether your Arabic replies look native or look machine-made. There is more on how the language handling works on the multilingual AI customer support page.
Voice notes, because half your customers will not type
Voice notes are the default in this region, and automatic speech detection is poor on the eight-second clips people really send. Replio transcribes an incoming voice note using the language that customer has been writing in as the hint, then answers it like any other message. Without that hint short Arabic clips come back as gibberish and a bot replies that it did not understand, which is the moment a customer gives up and calls a competitor.
What it costs to message a UAE customer, and who bills what
Two separate bills, and it is worth being clear about which is which. Replio charges a flat monthly subscription. Meta charges for WhatsApp conversations, billed by Meta directly to your own WhatsApp account, with no markup from Replio, because you connect your own number rather than renting one of ours.
For the UAE, a marketing conversation costs roughly $0.038 at Meta's rates, and Replio shows you an estimate of the total before a broadcast goes out rather than after. Conversations your customers start are the ones that matter most for support, and Replio does not meter them at all: messages are unlimited on every plan, including the free one. What does have a ceiling is business-initiated sending, because Meta puts every new number in a daily tier, typically 250 recipients a day at first and rising as your quality rating holds. Replio batches a large broadcast inside that tier rather than letting Meta reject the overflow.
Connecting the number you already use
Replio's business account is a verified Meta Tech Provider, a check performed by Meta rather than a claim we made about ourselves, which is the thing worth confirming before anybody connects a live business number to a platform. Connecting takes about three clicks through WhatsApp Embedded Signup: your existing WhatsApp Business number stays yours, there is no API paperwork, and no developer is involved. If you run separate numbers for Dubai and Abu Dhabi branches, both can sit on the same account with their own knowledge.
What a UAE business actually automates first
- The repetitive 70%. Hours, location, parking, delivery zones, price lists, "is this available", "do you take Apple Pay". Answered from your own content, day and night, in the customer's language.
- Bookings. A salon, clinic or workshop can take an appointment inside the chat instead of pushing the customer to a form.
- Instagram comments to DMs. Someone comments "price?" under a post and gets a private reply with the answer, which is where a large share of UAE retail demand actually starts.
- Complaints, logged. Anything that needs a person is flagged and handed to your inbox with the conversation attached, rather than dying in a WhatsApp thread nobody owns.
- Human handoff without a multilingual team. Your agent reads the conversation in English and replies in English; the customer receives Arabic. That part is the Live Translate add-on, included free on Pro and Business and $19 a month on Starter.
Where Replio is the wrong fit
Worth saying plainly, because a support tool is easier to trust when it names its limits. Replio does not supply Arabic-speaking human agents; it translates for the team you already have. It does not offer a contractual UAE data-residency guarantee, so if procurement requires one, this is not the product for you today. WhatsApp template messages, which is what a broadcast is, are approved by Meta one language at a time, so a bilingual campaign is two sends rather than one automatic translation. And there is no email or SMS channel, so Replio is the conversational layer of your support, not the whole of it.
Pricing
The WhatsApp-only plan is $70/month for a single channel and one seat. Starter is $150/month and includes every channel and the full feature set with 3 seats, Pro is $300 with 5 seats, and Business is $450 with 10 seats, advanced analytics, API and embed access and priority support. Messages are unlimited on every plan. There is a free 14-day trial with no card, and a free plan afterwards rather than a switch-off. UAE businesses can pay by card or in crypto (USDC). Meta's own WhatsApp conversation rates are billed by Meta, as above.
