Combot alternative: Replio vs Combot for Telegram groups
Combot is the veteran of Telegram group management: moderation, the CAS spam ban list and analytics, used in about 190,000 groups. Replio is a different shape of bot. It answers your members from your own knowledge base, hands the hard questions to your team, and runs contests that reward real people. This page says honestly which one a given group needs, and when the answer is both.
We checked Combot's own homepage, its news channel and cas.chat on 30 September 2026. Combot changes fast (it added channel analytics in December 2025, Combot AI in April 2026 and an automation engine in August), so treat anything below about Combot as a snapshot and confirm on combot.org before you decide.
The short answer
- Choose Combot if the group's problem is volume and bad actors: tens of thousands of members, raids, scam accounts, and admins who want charts. Its moderation is deeper than Replio's and a lot of it is free.
- Choose Replio if the group is where customers ask things: "is my withdrawal delayed", "what time do you open", "how do I enter the contest". Replio answers those from what your business has written down, in the member's language, and passes the ones it should not answer to a person.
- Run both if you have a big community that is also a support channel. That is a legitimate setup and it is described further down.
What Combot actually does in a group today
Most "Combot alternative" pages describe the Combot of 2022, a stats bot. The 2026 product is broader. You add @combot to the group, then manage it from a dashboard at combot.org that you log in to with your Telegram account. From there you get:
- CAS, the Combot Anti-Spam system. A shared ban list across every CAS-protected group. An account with a spam record is removed the moment it joins, and since April 2025 dormant spam accounts already inside a group are cleaned out in the background. Group admins cannot add people to it, and cas.chat describes its bans as permanent. This network effect is the single thing no newer bot can copy quickly.
- Moderation rules. Customisable filters, flood and advertising protection, automatic warnings, member reports routed to admins, closing hours that lock the chat overnight, an inactivity kicker and a filter on join requests by bio.
- A Mini App captcha, free for all groups, that removes unverified joiners after 12 hours and can require people to join up to five other chats first.
- Analytics that Combot says are free for groups of any size, including referral analytics showing which invite links brought members in, and since December 2025 dashboards for channels too.
- Engagement mechanics: reputation points, XP, levels and leaderboards, keyword triggers, scheduled and recurring announcements, anonymous questions, and an event-based automation engine.
- Combot AI: members mention or reply to @combot and get an answer, shaped by a custom system prompt, paid for with AI credits after a free trial.
So the old comparison line "Combot has no AI" is no longer true, and we have removed it from this page. The honest difference is narrower and more useful: what the AI knows, and what happens when it should not answer.
Where Replio is genuinely different
The answers come from your business, not from a prompt
Replio's agent reads the knowledge base you give it: your FAQ, your website, your policies, your price list, your help center. When a member in the group asks "what is the minimum deposit", it answers with your number, and if your knowledge base does not say, it says so instead of guessing. A system prompt tells a general model how to behave; a knowledge base tells it what is true for you. For a business group, that is the whole difference.
Some questions should reach a person, and Replio sends them
A member who writes "I sent the money two days ago and nothing arrived" does not need a clever reply, they need your support team. Replio recognises complaints, payment problems and requests for a human, tells the member what happens next, and alerts your team on WhatsApp or Telegram with the conversation attached. Scam-shaped messages in the group (fake "support" accounts, wallet-drainer links, competitors fishing for your members) trigger an alert to the team even when the bot itself stays quiet.
It is the same agent on every other channel
Your Telegram group is rarely the only place customers write. The agent that answers there also answers on WhatsApp, Messenger and your website widget from the same knowledge base, and everything lands in one inbox your team shares. Combot is Telegram only.
Contests that reward real members
Combot has leaderboards and XP; we found no giveaway or contest tool in its official material. Replio runs four kinds of campaign inside the group:
- Invite and Win, where every member gets a personal invite link and a live board ranks them. A join only counts if the new member solved the captcha, stayed past a 24-hour gate, did not leave, and, when the captcha is on, actually posted or verified. On one real crypto community that gate cut 1,248 raw joins to 697 valid ones and took a farming account from 180 to zero.
- Quiz rounds using Telegram's native quiz polls. Every correct answer scores, faster answers score more, and a recurring schedule can run a quiz from a question bank with a season leaderboard.
- Tasks, such as "post a review and send us the link", where members submit proof and you approve and pay by hand.
- Raffles with a random draw at the end.
The bot also knows about whatever contest is live, so when a member asks "how do I enter" it tells them, rather than sending them to your support email.

Where Combot is the better choice
Be clear about this before you switch anything. Replio's moderation is deliberately simple: a list of blocked words, an optional rule that removes any message with a link, and a choice between deleting the message or deleting it and banning the sender. It has no shared ban list, no flood detection, no warning ladder and no night lock. If you run a 50,000-member crypto or trading group that gets raided every week, CAS alone is reason to keep Combot, and its analytics cost you nothing. If your members mostly talk to each other and rarely need an answer from the business, you may not need Replio at all.
Running Replio and Combot in the same group
Many larger communities end up here, and it works because the two bots do different jobs. A setup that avoids them tripping over each other:
- Pick one captcha. Leave Combot's on if you rely on CAS and its join rules, and keep Replio's join captcha switched off. Two captchas on one join confuse people and lock them out.
- Pick one moderator. Let Combot own filters and bans. Leave Replio's keyword and link blocking off, or use it only for words specific to your business.
- Give Replio the questions. Add the Replio bot, make it an admin, and turn on mention-only mode so it replies only when someone @mentions it or replies to it. Replio posts and pins a short "how to get help" note when you link it, so members know how to ask.
- Run contests through Replio. If you want Invite and Win to count only verified, active joiners, the captcha has to be Replio's. Otherwise the contest still works, with the 24-hour stay rule doing the filtering.
How to add Replio to a Telegram group
- Start the 7-day trial and add your knowledge base: paste your FAQ, or give it your website and let it read the pages.
- Add @Replio_live_bot to the group and make it an admin with Restrict members and Delete messages.
- Send the
/linkcode from your dashboard in the group, from your own account rather than anonymously as the group. - Choose your settings: captcha on or off, mention-only replies, welcome message, and who gets escalation alerts.
- Ask it a real question your members ask, by @mentioning it, and check the answer before you tell the group.
Telegram and the website widget come with every paid plan. Starter is $49 a month with one of WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger, 2 seats and 8,000 AI replies. Scale is $149 with all three, 5 seats and 30,000 AI replies. Pro is $349 with 15 seats, 50,000 AI replies and your own branded Telegram bot instead of the shared one. Messages from customers are unlimited on every plan, and giveaways and contests need a paid plan rather than the trial.
